It was raining again. They had promised it would, and it was.
No hammer tonight. Just the gloves he’d bought. Tonight’s work would be quieter. Less violent. Less forceful.

No less direct.
No less painful for her.

Riskier, though. This part of town stayed alive well after dark. He would have to come back later, when the eyes were gone.He had the route. He knew the cable to cut.This time they would not hide it. This time he’d make the papers, maybe even the nine o’clock news.
